New
advances in surgical
methods and implant devices can appear
overwhelming to most patients. Here at
Hodge BioMotion Orthopedics, our staff works
closely with patients to help them better
understand the world of
Joint Replacement
Surgery as well as
Joint Preservation
Medicine and Technology. With new
surgical techniques, Surgical Institutes
within hospitals and new specialized designs
of implants available today, our team takes
the time to help you sort out this
information. We take pride in our medical
recommendations for treatment.
In 1989 W. Andrew Hodge,
M.D, relocated his clinical joint
replacement practice from Massachusetts
General Hospital and its associated
Orthopaedic Research Lab from MIT to its
headquarters at Good Samaritan Medical
Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
As Medical Director of
the Hodge BioMotion Orthopedic center,
Doctor Hodge's medical research goals are to
accurately analyze the biomechanics of the
hip and knee joints allowing better implant
design and surgical technique. In 1984, Dr.
Hodge implanted a radio-telemetry hip joint
in a patient which, for the first time,
measured the stress on the hip during
activities of daily living.
Along with Scott
Banks, PhD, Mechanical Engineering, Dr.
Hodge founded the BioMotion Foundation in
1987 as a not-for-profit orthopedic research
and educational organization, which now
continues to provide valuable services as
the Institute for Mobility and Longevity.
